Sunset at Hole-in-the-Rock
Papago ParkAbout 15 min from downtown
A short climb into a sandstone opening that frames the city as the sun goes down. It is casual, beautiful and five minutes from dinner in Tempe or Arcadia.
Desert sunsets, dinners with a view, a night at the theater or a sunrise above the Sonoran Desert - the evenings we drive most often for anniversaries, proposals and plain good dates.

Phoenix is made for dates. The light at sunset is extraordinary, evenings are warm for most of the year, and the Valley has a deep bench of resort restaurants, theaters and quiet desert viewpoints. The trick is pairing them well - a sunset spot that leads naturally into dinner, or a show with a late table nearby.
Here are the date nights our chauffeurs drive most, grouped by mood.

Drive up South Mountain as the light fades and watch the whole Valley switch on below. No hiking needed, and it is one of the most romantic views in the city.
North Phoenix and Scottsdale desertEarly start
Balloons launch at dawn from the desert north of the city from autumn to spring, drifting over saguaros as the sun comes up. Most flights end with a champagne toast - a memorable way to mark an anniversary.
Local tip: Launch sites are on the outskirts and meeting times are before sunrise. Having a car collect you from the hotel in the dark makes the morning far easier.
Papago ParkSeasonal
The garden runs evening events through the year, and in December its paths glow with luminarias. Walking the desert trails by candlelight is about as romantic as Phoenix gets.

Built by William Wrigley Jr. on a hilltop above the Arizona Biltmore, the mansion now hosts dinners and tours with sweeping views over the city - a natural choice for an anniversary.

Scottsdale and Paradise ValleyHalf a day
The Valley's resort spas are among the best in the country. A treatment, an afternoon by the pool and dinner on property is the easiest perfect day there is.
Cottonwood, Page Springs and JeromeAbout 2 hours
Arizona's wine country is a scenic two-hour drive north. A day of tastings with a chauffeur means you can both enjoy it - see our Verde Valley wine guide.
North of the Valley1 to 2.5 hours
A clear desert night away from the city shows more stars than most people have ever seen. Flagstaff, two hours north, was the world's first International Dark Sky City and is home to Lowell Observatory.
Good to know
We drive a lot of proposals. The favorites are sunset at Hole-in-the-Rock, a lit path at the Desert Botanical Garden, a private terrace at a Camelback resort and a sunrise balloon flight. Our advice: scout the spot at the same time of day beforehand, have a plan for the walk back in the dark, and arrange the car so you are not thinking about parking with a ring in your pocket. Dispatch is happy to help with timing.
Getting there
A chauffeur collects you at home, waits through dinner and the show, and gets you home without anyone checking a parking app. It is the simplest upgrade to an anniversary, a birthday or a proposal night.
